repertoire

The Caius approach to repertoire is broad and imaginative. As well as singing the great favourites of the Anglican choral repertoire (Tallis, Byrd, Purcell, Stanford, Howells etc) we sing music from a very wide geographical as well as chronological sweep, as can be seen from our CD recordings. The CD Chorus vel Organa includes music from a fine illuminated choir book in the college library, as shown above.

Each week in our Chapel services we sing two Evensongs and a Eucharist so that a good quantity of Mass repertoire is included alongside the regular Evensong repertoire. We also sing secular music at College Feasts including partsongs, madrigals and folksong arrangements.

Caius has a particular commitment to commissioning and performing new choral music by today’s leading composers. Recent commissions have come from Robin Holloway, Judith Weir, Cheryl Frances Hoad, James MacMillan, Stuart MacRae and Francis Grier. Choir members leave with an exceptionally wide experience of choral music!

Everything they do merits our attention...
