Brazil (August 2014)
This tour marked the conclusion of an exciting joint project between researchers at Cambridge and the University of São Paulo, aimed at exploring cross-cultural perspectives on our two distinct yet similar traditions.
The tour included concerts in the São Paulo area and also in Rio de Janeiro. A samba lesson, rhythm workshop and visit to a samba bar in Rio helped with our performance of dance-based music, and it was a pleasure to meet and sing with the choir members of the Communicantus Chamber Choir at the University. We also collaborated with a youth-project for young musicians in the city, and performed at St Paul’s school. Our schedule in Rio naturally left just enough time for cocktails on the beach.
