Sardinia (July 2015)

Concerts in the Cathedrals of Cagliari and Alghero were the highlights of this tour, though equally exciting was singing at some of the ancient sites for which the island is famous.

The music programme was in honour of ancient Irish and Tudor kings, mixing music by Cornysh and Ludford with medieval chants as part of our collaboration with triplepipe player Barnaby Brown. Sardinia is the only place in Europe where the triplepipe is still a flourishing musical instrument today, though it was one of the main instruments played in ancient Britain & Ireland. Our first visit to a restaurant in Cagliari was accompanied by an impromptu performance from a local musician whose repertoire included Beyoncé.
